The flavor burst with pear notes

Enticing fragrance once the bag is opened -
We brewed this one also in our French Press -
The taste of almond and apricot high notes -
Smooth with no after taste in this one either -

It's been awhile since we tried a different
roaster and, if you'll go to their website,

you will also see that the prices are
reasonable and I can attest to their
timely response to any email
questions you may have -

It's finally happened - the winds of change,

emanating from the Middle East earlier
this year, is slowly making it's way throughout
the USA -

Videos of the peaceful people protesting,
and innocent bystanders in New York being
arrested simply for taking a picture and being
held in jail for 11-12 hrs - and being charged
for Civil Disobedience (when no clear charge
can be made) is totally contrary to the call
of spreading Democracy around the World -

a Facebook search -

As it states on the back of the menu:

outside (too hot now) and
some of their food, and Stephen -

Partial drink list, using custard which is
absolutely fabulous -

They bring the blended drink to you,
and pour the espresso for you -

This one is called Payne's Reaction -

This is some of Stephen Paynes roasted espresso
blend - he only roasts for the store and batches
2 pounds at a time -
We were hoping to catch him today
but missed him -

A few months ago, I submitted a collage for an
ABAD call in Phoenix, Arizona and through that
sharing the coffee mix, Patricia Sahertian
sent me this photo of some coffee grounds she read -

And I'm thinking, since this was on the other side,
that this is her reading -

We saw an Art O Mat machine and had a copy

of one of my collages, which you can almost see

in his left hand - Each token for a piece of art

is $5.00 and I gave him the card - in case

he did not like what he got out of the machine -

Not sure how impressed he was, but he had

a big smile and a hearty hand shake -

I did not have any Egyptian photos, otherwise

After watching the protests in Egypt on

the english Al Jazeera through the

internet, I realize now more than ever

the sad limits of our news.

No commercials with stupid people

saying stupid things to buy products

you don't need. And also, not one interview

with anyone saying or responding in

stupid, negative answers.

We need help in many areas ourselves

post 450 - for max - RIP 12-9-2010

Have you ever seen someone one minute,
and all is well, and the next, it isn't?

Awhile back, our friends husband Max,
seen in the picture below, was told he had
a cancer growing, then, it disappeared.

2 weeks ago, he didn't feel like eating
or drinking and his wife took him to
the doctor. Long story short, the cancer
is so bad, surgery can not help.

We went and saw him a weak ago Fri,
and although obviously week and
losing weight, he had thanked us
for coming.

Today, he was sleeping and although
sipping at a juice once in awhile, he is
not eating, nor taking any pain pills.

I had many ideas for a collage,
and the above is what I ended
up with.

To get through the hardest journey

we need to take only one step at a time

but we must keep on stepping.

While in Minnesota for a brief time, we
had a chance to finally meet up with
a fellow blogger, who I've known of and read
over the last 4 yrs, starting with us all knee
deep in political issues. Joe has a friend who
owns a coffee shop and roasts his own beans,
called: J & S Bean Factory, in St. Paul. It was late
in the day and tried his espresso, which was
very good, and sat out back and chatted
for a short while. It was great to finally meet
him, although the visit was too short.

When I arrived home, although I
signed up for the PO to hold our mail
was a box with a hand painted coffee
cup by an artist in New York who
also has a blog, which you can find here:

Once I made contact, we decided
to trade one of my coffee cd mixes
for one of her cups.

the one that I first saw and caught
my attention. Not only does she recycle
tea/coffee paper cups, but also adds
a slice of living in New York in her posts.

These were my 2 entries for a mail art call
in 1995 by Arto Posto, who I lost track of and
have read she may have died.

The amazing irony of this call and looking
at events that unfolded through the late
'90s have been a revelation to me.
And, it's taken almost 15 yrs to make
any sense out of it after moving
away from the bay area.

1 - Sometimes, people go through life
looking for answers, that can never
be found outside, because they are
inside themselves.

2 - I always wondered, if life in our
home had been any different
and more positive, what I
would have done and sooner
than starting to understand
it all starting in my 40s.

3 - Fear of success has been the ultimate
and key word in the back of my mind.

4 - Always being in relationships where people
were needy and manipulative.
Never realizing I was as much a problem
to them, as they were to me.

I received the following
envelope from Lisa.

I sent her this one.

It was a few years later, many emails, snail mail
and finally a phone call here and a phone call there,
that we decided to meet.

I was in a transition period, where life was in chaos
although family and friends may not have understood.

I knew before I left, I was not going to
be staying in Ca any longer. Some family and
friends said it wouldn't last.

5 - My upbringing was such, that I
had no self esteem, people wonder why
Recently, through a few old school friends
on FB I found out in school I was one
funny, happy kid. It was being at home
that caused the inward turn and fears.

Fortunately for me, moving here has been
helpful to get past all that.

6- 15 yrs + later, we are still together
and moving in directions neither of
us thought we'd ever move in.

7 - Sometimes, I wonder if she knows
how great these years have really
been, and just how much I love being
with her and doing what we do.

8 -Does anyone ever really know
how we think about the other,
when it comes right down to it?

This is for you and hoping for many
more years where we continue
to grow together and stay
this side of creative.

in jr high school and obviously continues
today. The postcard above was made
on a 4 x 6 davey board. The envelope

Phil Frank is no longer with us. He was
a cartoonist in the bay area and a neighbor
in the town we both lived in. He had a
small houseboat in the marina where
he'd draw his cartoons.

He made this for our store. This is a
copy, as the original is put away.

We made a few different busy-ness
cards for the store. The one above
is one of them.

Tmplgrl and I met through mail art
a long time ago. I hope one day
soon she can continue to pursue
her writing and drawing!

Was looking forward to Albany Indian Mounds
in Illinois, but as luck would have it, massive
amounts of gnats were everywhere and cut
our outdoor activities short. You'll see some

This area has been inhabited for at
least 10,000 yrs.
Area is best known for the American Indians
who lived here and constructed the
mounds about 2,000 yrs ago.
The Hopewell culture.
96 mounds were built between
200 AD and 300 AD.
There are less than 50 remaining.

I wonder what the moderate price was?

From what I've read about Elbert Hubbard
and the Roycrofters, this sounded like
a destination I'd gladly seek out today
if it were possible.

So many creative people were gathering
at this same time back then.

This hand came from a real coffeehouse
in Seattle, called : Coffee Messiah.

We also have a photo of the store which
I'll post at a later date. It sounded like
a pretty good stop for coffee and repartee.

Sadly, unless I understand it wrong, once
SB came nearby, they lost quite a bit
of busy-ness. While out there, we
found the store, but it had already
closed. Then, some "stuff" ended
up on ebay..........

We took a book art workshop in Champaign, Il,
with Bea Nettles, who has been involved in the
photographic and book art world since the '70s.
We learned the pamphlet stitch, punch and
multi-needle exposed spine sewing.
Struggled a bit with the 1st two, but found
doing the multi needle sewing, 3 threads,
6 needles finally making some sense and finding
the sewing to not be so daunting and hard to do.

What follows on the short clip:

1- Greek Rest., Lafayette, Indiana,
husband and wife at this site for 26 yrs
and delicious food and great hosts.

2- Workshop at Oak Street Library,
scenes in the conservation lab.

Great coffee, and glad we
found it for both days.
